hi,

i did a bio update again and you can find it at http://sal-one.com/index.php?open=about.

i'm still working on my can control at the moment so i'm sticking to doing throwups, i've posted them online and you can find them at http://sal-one.com/pieces/index.php?open=pieces37-42 and http://sal-one.com/pieces/index.php?open=pieces43-48. there's more i still have to post still and i will do that as soon as possible.

i have to put new blackbook pages and sketches online also, which i will do as soon as possible, but you know, busy, busy, busy at the moment *cough*.

a letter to the government and law enforcement.. - posted by: Sal on 08.11.2008 at 19:16:29
hi,

considering i see hits very frequently from the dutch justice department (even foreign justice departments) and police precincts to my site (keeps making me laugh when that happens) i thought i'd write this more or less an open letter and maybe get a person to finally wake up.

i really want to spill my guts out at the government and law enforcement they just keep hammering how society hates graffiti but when you see commercials, tv series, (big)movies, computer games, and/or magazines nowadays you see graffiti all the time and not by accident, they focus in on it even and even hire graffiti artists to do pieces in the background. wake up and accept it's a part of society, nowadays good graffiti writers get hired by big clothing companies, movie studios, commercial companies, sneaker brands, record labels, magazines, and i could continue with a lot more. it's a part of society and very well accepted as an art, also in the art world, deal with it!
what's up with the damn dutch government (i really mean governments worldwide, but i'm just gonna mention the dutch government at the moment)? they rather pay huge amounts of money to clean up graffiti and pump money into investigations and new techniques which basically will result in nothing, if the person who's busted has the guts to shuddup and makes use of his rights.

for those who work at the justice department and for the government listen, you how to make graffiti a lot less of a 'problem' for you, maybe call it an easy solution even? build a wall of 2-2.5 meters high and 20-30 meters long in each city that has a minimum of 25.000 citizens, for cities with over 100.000 citizens more walls, and put it on a spot where it's clearly visible to the public, easy accessible, well illuminated, preferable near to the railroad and let (upcoming) graffiti writers do their work there legally without having to worry about the popo. i'm not talking about a fancy wall, just some brick wall, nothing more. you could also allow painting on old buildings which are on a demolition list.
thanks to the government's ignorance graffiti writers are more or less obligated to work on their skills illegally and maybe even turn them into street kids or into criminals because they have to go out at 2 am at night to be able to work on their skills. make it also easy for graffiti writers to get in contact with construction sites to paint on the plywood that's surrounding the sites.
wouldn't it actually be a good way to work with graffiti writers and have much less youngsters getting in trouble with the popo and maybe avoid getting them even deeper into criminality? you realize that the majority of the kids out there just want to paint and don't want to hurt a fly right? don't you think by putting them for months in jail you only do them harm and turn them into something they weren't before doing time? don't want to avoid kids to get into court and have a record or fines they won't even be able to pay off in their life time and not get a decent job ever because of all that? just all because you are too greedy to build a simple wall... come on! you will never be able to win the 'fight' against graffiti, never ever it's a part of daily life, so instead of trying to 'fight' it why not try to work WITH writers the way i've mentioned before.

don't get me wrong, i am against a lot of ugly and useless tagging also, for sure when it's on private properties and on monuments but you will get rid of a huge amount of useless tagging by putting up legal walls like that!

it's funny, i've done quite an amount of pieces in cities on plywood around building constructions and you know what people say? hey that's cool, they even ask if it's possible to have a piece done on their wall(s) or they mention more building constructions which could need some color.
it's well known that politicians don't know what's going on on the streets and they do countless of useless hearings (which are again a waste of money) and what not which are done by people who don't know what's going on on the streets either!
many countries should use south american countries as an example, they embrace graffiti as a real art form (and bloody hell if you say it's not an art form) and local governments organize graffiti events/jams or are very involved in organizing graffiti events/jams.

please wake up about this already will ya!

if you are a writer and you got something constructive to add please feel free to add a serious comment, but no foul language please, cussing and what not won't get us anywhere, those posts will be deleted. you don't have to enter an email when you write a comment and your i.p. won't be logged either. please do mention what you write though. when you want to add paragraph please use <br><br>, so you'll get a double return. who knows, maybe we'll able to reach some listening ears, it absolutely can't harm.

new piece and video online! - posted by: saL-onE on 17.11.2007 at 20:01:19
Today the 17th of November 2007 in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands i did my first 'real' piece ( not counting the few throwups and quick pieces i did in the meanwhile ) since +/- 1991 (?), together with 2 good old friends of mine TimSki and Tape2, besides them Twelve, Part2 and Saze were also painting. It was a hell of a damn nice day and we had a lot of fun, which it should be about, fun! and not about or with beef and all that crap!

The sketch can't be found in my blackbook yet but I will put it in my blackbook soon.

A bigger version of the video can be found here.

peace,

back in the netherlands - posted by: saL-onE on 01.04.2007 at 13:23:30
today, the 1st of april, i came back to the netherlands, shortly after being back in peru again ( i went january the 12th ) because i started to get serious pains ( i'll spare you the details of the complications i am having ) linked to the peritonitis operation i had last november 2006. we decided that it was better for me to go back to the netherlands to get checked up again because the hospital here has my whole history.
my idea was to do so many pieces again in peru but i just wasn't able to do what i planned because of the complications i was/am feeling as mentioned above. at one point i did do one piece ( besides the tagging i did here and there ) across the street in front of the airport of lima, callao, peru, but the planning of it all was so chaotic that it never was able to do a nice piece. to read more about it click on the foto of the 2nd at pieces37-42.

peace,

old domain working again and painting in peru followup - posted by: saL-onE on 12.12.2006 at 07:05:19
finally i got my old domain ( http://www.sal-one.com/ ) back again. i decided to cancel the contract with the previous hoster because the service was so absolutely horrible. i had to wait till the domain got released again and since yesterday i got it back.

i supposed to be back again in peru now but because all of a sudden i started to get horrible abdominal pains ( the 12th of november, a few days before the planned flight ) i had to be admitted to the emergency room straight away and there they diagnosed that i had Peritonitis because my Appendicitis had bursted for some days ( i never felt that it bursted or was infected ). it was so serious that they were fearing if i even would be able make it through the operation. the recovery period with the kind of operation i had will take a very long time and that's why i can't go back to peru yet. now i will go back to peru the 14th of january 2007, and continue with recovery there.
